“Together We Thrive”: the JCOD Summit & Festival in Inglewood

The Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department held its “Together We Thrive” Summit & Festival at WePlay Studios in Inglewood, and I covered both halves of it — a formal policy summit that ran into a public-facing community festival. On stage: department leadership, community partners, panel discussions, and Danny Trejo.

Government, nonprofit, and community events like this ask for range in a single day: the discretion to document a serious policy conversation, then the energy to shoot a public festival, and the judgment to read which one you're in at any moment. I photographed the speakers and partners without interrupting the program, then worked the festival for the candid, human moments that show what the day was actually about.
